Baby A's Custom Newborn Session

Baby A visited for her newborn portraits at ten days old. Her mom envisioned soft colors, delicate details, and photographs that felt personal to her little girl. With inspiration featuring tiny beds and dolls, we had a lovely starting point for planning her session at my Waterbury, Connecticut studio.

From Mom's Inspiration to the Finished Sets

A white lace tutu dress and carefully chosen props helped bring Mom's ideas into the gallery. The gentle colors and textures gave the portraits a delicate feel, with different settings to show off her tiny features.

When a parent shares inspiration, I like to talk about what draws them to it. Is it the softness of the colors, a particular prop, or the feeling of the photograph? Those details help me plan a collection around their preferences. For Baby A, the little beds, dolls, and lace gave us a clear direction without making every portrait look the same.

Time for the Baby and the Family

This session lasted approximately four and a half hours, allowing time for different sets as well as photographs with Mom, Grandma, and Grandpa. That was the pace of this particular session; every baby and family is different.

Newborn portraits need room for feeding, changing, soothing, and settling. Having a plan helps me prepare, but I also leave space to respond to the baby in front of me. You do not need to worry that a pause will spoil the session.

Three Generations Together

The photographs with Mom and grandparents are some of my favorites from Baby A's session. Alongside her individual portraits, they record the people who were there to welcome her. Years from now, she will be able to see herself in their arms.
