Sophia Aced Her Newborn Photoshoot!

New Haven County, Connecticut

Sophia came to my Waterbury, Connecticut studio for her newborn portraits at about ten days old. Her session had been planned in advance, and Mom had chosen a beautiful direction: soft sage, creams, and pinks, with flowers woven into the styling. I loved bringing those ideas together for her little girl.

A Soft Palette with Floral Details

Mom's request for flowers inspired the floral borders and delicate accents throughout Sophia's gallery. Around the pink heart-shaped bowl, the flowers created a frame for her tiny face. In other portraits, a small bouquet or floral headband added just a touch of detail.

The sage wraps, cream textures, and soft pink fabrics gave us different looks while keeping the collection connected. That is something I consider throughout the planning process: each portrait should work beautifully on its own, and the photographs should also feel at home beside one another.

Creating Variety Around Sophia

I prepared approximately eight to ten sets for Sophia's session, with a mix of wraps, outfits, headbands, hats, and props. She settled beautifully, allowing us to photograph many of the looks we had planned. Her gallery includes simple fabric portraits, a miniature bed, a wicker bassinet, and wrapped portraits in the heart bowl.

There are quieter details to notice, too: her little hands resting near her cheek, a tiny smile in sage green, and those lovely eyes-open expressions. The variety comes from both the styling and the baby herself.

Every newborn session unfolds differently. A planned set gives us a starting point, while your baby's comfort and cues guide what we photograph. There is room to pause for feeding, changing, and settling along the way.
