Designing Your Newborn Session

Congratulations on booking your newborn session!

Now it is time for the fun part, designing and planning your colors and props. Whether you know what you want or have no idea, we work together to create something truly unique and beautiful for your little one.

Your Design Consultation

At your design consultation, we will work together to plan your beautiful sets.

Which colors should you choose? Some Moms choose a color they like, while others choose a color that matches the baby nursery. I have also chosen the color scheme for moms who just want something that looks nice with their baby's complexion.

I often recommend 2-4 colors or shades of color for your session. The color variety is beautiful in your images. My goal is that the colors chosen should blend or complement one another. When planning a session, I work backward thinking of the final result. I contemplate, how will these images look together in an album spread or designed on a wall or mantle.

Some popular soft color combinations are shades of pink and creams, sage, light blue and creams, and blush pink, mauve, and cream. Some deeper colors that frequently go well together are emerald and teal tones, raspberry, gold, and deep mauve.

Recently I did a berry-toned session with varying shades of pink from soft to deeper toned and it came out beautiful! There are so many ways we can mix and match.

Neutrals are wonderful to be added to almost any color palette.

Once we have chosen our colors, we discuss the props we would like to use in the session. I encourage Moms to look through my work and see if there are certain props in images that speak to them. Certain favorites such as my heart bowl and bucket props will be found out by every session, but many others vary based on client preference.

Have a themed set you would like to create? I love bringing your vision to life! Whether you are musical, love baseball, or want a fairy-themed set we will create that vision for you
