This post follows the expansion of my Waterbury portrait studio, from construction to move-in in February 2025. The goal was to make more room for thoughtfully planned sets, family portraits, and a comfortable experience from the session through the image reveal.
The expansion plans included a separate entrance, a custom bathroom, improved prop storage, and comfortable seating for sessions and portrait reveals.
Doubling the studio space created room to separate the light-filled lifestyle area from the styled portrait sets. The additional space also made it possible to prepare multiple sets ahead of a session and photograph families more comfortably.
The photographs below document the construction process.
We moved into the expanded studio in February 2025. The photograph below shows the new prop display, with baskets, wraps, and portrait accessories organized for planning each session.
